Professor Andy Yount - Professor Andy is a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Black belt, Co owner and head instructor of Gracie Humaita Huntsville. Professor Andy started his journey 29 years ago when his dad introduced him to Jiu-Jitsu. It was around this time the Gracie family was just arriving in the USA and were dominating UFC and MMA. His career in Jiu-Jitsu was paused for a while when he started playing professional baseball. After a hand injury ended his baseball career, Andy decided to dedicate himself to Jiu-Jitsu with the goal of owning and operating several Jiu- Jitsu Gyms in the East Texas area. Andy received his black belt in 2016 while training under the lineage of Professor JW Wright, Professor David Adiiv and Master Royler Gracie. He still actively competes, and enjoys challenging himself in competitions and in class. When Andy is on the mat his infectious attitude and teaching skills make him a magnet for those wanting to learn Jiu-Jitsu and better their lives. Ryan Reed has an extensive background in multiple martial arts beginning in 2006. Ryan is a black belt in Brazilain Jiu-Jitsu under Professor Andy Yount. Ryan also has a background in MMA which began while serving in the Marine Corps on the Marine Corps Fight Team. While serving in the United States Marine Corps, Ryan was a black belt martial arts instructor for the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP). Ryan has been an MMA coach for both amateur and professional fighters which he has taken to win multiple championships. Ryan has an extensive knowledge in nutrition and fitness. He holds a Personal Trainer Certification, Sports Nutrition Specialist, and also a MMA Conditioning Coach certification. Ryan has a Masters degree in business and is a firefighter with the City of Conroe.
Chance Norman is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Andy Yount. He started Jiu-Jitsu in 2010 in Beaumont, Texas training under Patrick Head at Gracie Barra before moving to Texas Punishment Crew where he trained under Jason and Randall Ebarb. After moving to Houston, Chance trained at Iron Mantis which is now Gracie Humaita Conroe. Chance is an avid competitor who has placed in several IBJJF tournaments and competed in multiple Jiu-jitsu pro fights. He has a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and works full time with the Texas Department of Transportation.
Chance was promoted to Black Belt on the podium, November 2021, after sweeping the Master 1 light weight brown belt division, at the IBJJF WorldMaster Championship in Las Vegas Nevada!
Daniel McFarlane is a Brazillian Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt under Andy Yount. He began training in 2013 in Houston under Eddie Avelar (Carlos Machado) at Ground Dwellers and has been with Gracie Humaita since 2018. Daniel is a professional artist and teacher. He has an MFA in painting from University of Florida and BFA from Sam Houston State University. Daniel also enjoys playing music, surfing, listening to audiobooks, alien movies, and video games. He has been married to his high school sweetheart for 15 years and has two children.
