Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I’m brand new to Jiu-Jitsu. Can I still join?

Absolutely! Most of our students start with no prior experience. We have beginner-friendly classes and coaches who will guide you step by step. Everyone was new once — we’ve built a culture that’s welcoming, patient, and supportive.

What should I bring to my first class?

Just wear comfortable workout clothes (like shorts and a t-shirt) and bring water. If you don’t have a gi or gear yet, no problem — we’ll provide what you need for your free trial.

Do I need to be in shape to start?

No! Jiu-Jitsu is one of the best ways to get in shape. Our classes will help improve your strength, endurance, mobility, and confidence at your own pace. No one expects you to be a pro — just show up and start where you are.

Is Jiu-Jitsu safe? I don’t want to get hurt.

Safety is our top priority. We teach control, awareness, and injury prevention in every class. Our instructors create a respectful training environment where students look out for each other — not try to “win” at each other’s expense.

Am I too old to start training?

Not at all. We have members from teens to their 60s+ on the mats every week. Jiu-Jitsu is a lifelong art that can be adapted to any age, body type, or ability level.

I feel nervous or intimidated to start. Is that normal?

Totally normal — and you’re not alone. Starting something new can feel overwhelming, especially martial arts. But once you step through the door, you’ll see we’re just regular people who love to train and help others grow. After your first class, you’ll wonder why you waited!

How much does it cost?

We offer family plans and flexible membership options depending on your goals and schedule. The investment is about the price of a cup of coffee a day — and what you gain in confidence, fitness, and community is priceless.

Everyone starts with a free trial class, and when you sign up, you’ll receive a free gi to get started. Contact us directly and we’ll help you find the best plan for you or your family.

Do you offer classes for kids?

Yes! We have kids classes for ages 3–6 and 6–12. These classes focus on discipline, confidence, focus, and bully prevention — all taught in a fun, encouraging environment. Many of our kids go on to compete, but competition is never required.

Can women train here? Do you have women-only classes?

Yes, and yes. We welcome women in all our regular classes and also offer women-only classes focused on self-defense, skill-building, and community. No experience needed — just bring a positive attitude and be ready to learn.

Do you have other classes besides Jiu-Jitsu?

Definitely. In addition to Gi and No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu, we offer:

  • Striking / MMA

  • Judo & Takedowns

  • Mobility Training

  • Self-Defense

  • Private Lessons

Check our full schedule or message us for details.

Can I use the weights, workout equipment, or punching bags?

Yes! Anytime the gym is open, you have full access to our workout equipment and heavy bags. Whether you want to get in a warm-up before class, add some strength training to your routine, or work striking drills on your own, the facility is yours to use.
